Testimony at public hearing on Illinois DOI proposed rule

On December 19, 2016, Mr. Nyeste testified at a public hearing in favor of an Illinois Department of Insurance proposed rule that would prevent auto  insurers from rescinding policies based on post-claim underwriting. Read Mr. Nyeste's prepared testimony: Written testimony regarding proposed rule 941.20. The proposed rule was adopted and became law on April 14, 2017 (50 Ill. Admin. Code 941.20).

Resumes role as Editor of The Policy Newsletter

In June 2024, Mr. Nyeste resumed the role of Editor of The Policy, the newsletter of the Insurance Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association, a role that he previously had for over ten years. The newsletter reports on every insurance opinion applying Illinois law from the Illinois Supreme Court, Illinois Appellate Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. The newsletter also includes articles and opinions on matters of insurance law.

Honored by Illinois State Bar Association

On July 11, 2019, Mr. Nyeste was an Honoree at an awards ceremony of the Illinois State Bar Association. He was recognized for his ten years of service as the Editor of the newsletter of the Insurance Law section of the Association.
